Founder, The Octopus Movement
Perry Knoppert, affectionately known as Dr. Octopus, is the visionary founder of The Octopus Movement—a global community of nonlinear thinkers and innovators. Born in The Hague, Netherlands, in 1975, Perry’s journey has been shaped by embracing unconventional ideas and turning complexity into possibility.
The Octopus Movement, founded in 2021 in Amsterdam, has grown rapidly and now boasts members in over 95 countries. This non-profit organization aims to drive acceptance and awareness of atypical thinkers’ abilities and embed diverse experiences and expertise within institutions tackling today’s trickiest challenges.
Perry’s approach blends creativity, vulnerability, and human connection. He embraces his ADHD and dyslexia, viewing them as assets rather than handicaps. This perspective is central to the Octopus Movement, which celebrates neurodiversity and empowers out-of-the-box thinkers to unleash their unique talents.
The movement’s philosophy is reflected in its mascot, the octopus, chosen for its three hearts, nine brains, eight arms, ability to change color and shape, and unique DNA. These characteristics symbolize the adaptability, intelligence, and multifaceted nature of nonlinear thinkers.
Through The Octopus Movement, Perry has created a space where diverse minds unite to challenge norms, ignite innovation, and shape a better future. His work demonstrates the power of embracing individuality to transform the world, inspiring others to think differently and solve seemingly unsolvable problems.
